The double treble crochet 2 together = dtr2tog (UK) or treble crochet 2 together = tr2tog (US), may sometimes be referred to as a cluster stitch, means to crochet 2 stitches together to create a decrease.
This decrease turns two stitches into one stitch and is used to create different shapes besides squares and rectangles. It is slightly more complicated than increasing, but not difficult when you understand the process.
The instructions below show step by step how to create the stitch.
Right Handed

Step by Step
Yarn over twice
Insert your hook into the stitch where you are going to create the decrease, yarn over
Pull through. 4 loops remain on the hook
Yarn over and pull through two loops. 3 loops remain on the hook
Yarn over and pull through two loops.
2 loops remain on the hook
Don’t complete the last yarn over leave two loops on the hook.
Then yarn over twice
Insert your hook into the next stitch where you are going to create the decrease
Yarn over and pull through.
5 loops remain on the hook
Yarn over and pull through two loops.
4 loops remain on the hook
Yarn over and pull through two loops. 3 loops remain on the hook
Yarn over and pull through all three loops that are on the hook
1 crochet together stitch complete
