Project 6 - Heart Motif 

In project 6 you will get the opportunity to practice reading patterns, holding the hook and yarn, creating a slipknot, doing a yarn over, chain stitch, double crochet, half treble crochet, treble crochet, double treble crochet, triple treble crochet, quadruple treble crochet and a slip stitch, work in rounds, work in a chain space, change colour, increase, finish/fasten off and weave ends.

Instructions:
 

Ch5, join to the first ch with slst to form ring. 

Note: Begin each round with a ch3 which counts as the first tr of the round.

Round 1: Into the ring ch3, 2tr then ch2, *tr3 then ch2* 3 times, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  (4 groups of 3tr not counting ch2 sps)

Round 2: Ch3, tr2, (2tr, ch2, 2tr) into corner sp, tr into each of the tr from the round below, *(2tr, ch 2, 2tr) into corner sp, tr into each of the tr from the round below* rep from * to * 2 more times, tr2, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (7 sts per side)

Round 3: To form the top of the heart, rejoin same colour slst into the next ch2 corner space from round 2, then ch1, *(dtr, ch1)* rep from * to * 5 more times, slst into the corner space.  Ch1 rep from * to * 6 more times.  FO.

Round 3b: Change colour into the 5th ch sp of the top of the heart, create dc, htr into the top of the next st, tr into the next ch sp, ttr into the top of the next st, into the corner space of round 2 (qtr, ch2, qtr), ttr into the top of the next st, tr into the next ch sp, htr into the top of the next st, dc into the next ch sp.  FO.

Round 4: Continue with the same colour from round 3b, slst into the ch2 corner space where round 3 finished off.  Ch3, tr into each tr from the round below, (2tr, ch 2, 2tr) into corner sp, tr into each of the tr from the round below, tr into the ch2 previous corner space,

Working into the top of the heart created in round3, 2tr into the ch sp, tr into the top of the dtr from the round 3.  Into the next ch sp (2dtr, ch2, 2dtr), 2tr into the next chain space, 2tr into the next chain space, tr into the top of the 4th dtr from round 3.

Working into the stitches created in round 3b, tr3, 2tr into the top of the ttr, tr into the top of the qtr, then into the ch2 sp (2dtr, ch2, 2dtr), tr into the top of the qtr, 2tr into the top of the ttr, tr3 into each of the stitches created in round 3b, tr into the top of the 3rd dtr from round 3, 2tr into the next chain space, 2tr into the next chain space, (2dtr, ch2, 2dtr) into the next ch sp, tr into the top of the 6th dtr from the round 3, 2tr into the ch sp, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (15 sts per side)

Round 5: Ch3, tr into each st from the round below *(2dtr, ch2, 2dtr) into corner sp, tr into each st from the round below* rep from * to * 2 more times, tr into each st from the round below, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (19 sts per side)

Round 6: Repeat round 5.  FO.  (23 sts per side)

Round 5: Ch3, dc into each st from the round below *(2tr, ch2, 2tr) into corner sp, dc into each st from the round below* rep from * to * 2 more times, dc into each st from the round below, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (19 sts per side)

Round 6: Repeat round 5.  FO.  (23 sts per side)
