Project 8 - Granny Flower Motif 

In project 8 you will get the opportunity to practice reading patterns, holding the hook and yarn, creating a slipknot, doing a yarn over, chain stitch, treble crochet and a slip stitch, work in rounds, work in a chain space, change colour, increase, finish/fasten off and weave ends.

Instructions: 

Ch5, join to the first ch with slst to form ring. 

Note: ch3 at the beginning of each round counts as a tr.

Round 1: Into the ring ch4 then *tr1, ch1* rep from * to* 11 times, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (12 sts)

Round 2: Change colour slst into the next ch1 sp from round 1, ch3 then tr, ch1, *into the next ch-sp 2tr, ch1* rep from * to * 11 times, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (24 sts)

Round 3: Change colour slst into the next ch1 sp from round 2, ch3, 2tr, *into the next ch-sp 3tr, ch1* rep from * to * 11 times, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (36 sts)

Round 4: Change colour slst into the next ch1 sp from round 3, ch3, 2tr, ch1, *into the next ch-sp (3tr, ch3, 3tr, ch1 to create corner) continue into the next 2 ch-sp with (3tr, ch1)* rep from * to * 3 times, into the next ch-sp (3tr, ch3, 3tr, ch1 to create last corner), continue into the next ch-sp with (3tr, ch1), join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  (12 sts per side)

Round 5: Working into the next ch1 sp of the previous round, ch3, 2tr, ch1, *into the corner chain space (3tr, ch3, 3tr, ch1 into corner sp) continue with (3tr, ch1) into each ch-sp to next corner chain space * rep from * to * 3 times, (3tr, ch3, 3tr, ch1 into corner sp) continue into each ch-sp with (3tr, ch1), join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  (15 sts per side)

Round 6-7: Repeat round 5.    Round 6 = 18 sts per side

                                                  Round 7 = 21 sts per side

Round 8+: Repeat round 5 to make a bigger square.

Round 4: Change colour slst into the next ch1 sp from round 3, ch3, 2dc, ch1, *into the next ch-sp (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1 to create corner) continue into the next 2 ch-sp with (3dc, ch1)* rep from * to * 3 times, into the next ch-sp (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1 to create last corner), continue into the next ch-sp with (3dc, ch1), join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  (12 sts per side)

Round 5: Working into the next ch1 sp of the previous round, ch3, 2dc, ch1, *into the corner chain space (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1 into corner sp) continue with (3dc, ch1) into each ch-sp to next corner chain space * rep from * to * 3 times, (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1 into corner sp) continue into each ch-sp with (3dc, ch1), join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  (15 sts per side)

Round 6-7: Repeat round 5.    Round 6 = 18 sts per side

                                                  Round 7 = 21 sts per side

Round 8+: Repeat round 5 to make a bigger square.
