Project 10 - Chain Flower Motif 

In project 10 you will get the opportunity to practice reading patterns, holding the hook and yarn, creating a slipknot, doing a yarn over, chain stitch, double crochet, half treble crochet, treble crochet, and a slip stitch, work in rounds, work in a chain space, change colour, increase, finish/fasten off and weave ends.

Instructions: 

Ch5, join to the first ch with slst to form ring. 

Note: ch3 at the beginning of each round counts as a tr.

Round 1: Into the ring ch3 then tr1, ch1, *tr2, ch1* rep from * to * 6 more times, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (16 tr sts)

Round 2: Change colour slst into the next ch1 sp from round 1, ch3 then 2tr, ch1, *into the next ch-sp 3tr, ch1* rep from * to * 6 more times, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (24 tr sts)

Round 3: Rejoin same colour slst into the next ch1 sp from round 2, then ch1, *dc, 5tr, dc* rep from * to * 7 more times, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round. FO.  (56 sts or 8 petals)

Round 4: Change colour slst into any beginning dc from a petal in round 3, ch6 (counts as 1htr and ch4), *working into the first dc of the next petal (tr, ch5, tr) into the same st to create corner, ch4, into the first dc of the next petal htr, ch4* rep from * to * 2 more times, into the first dc of the next petal (tr, ch5, tr) into the same st to create corner, ch4, join with slst into the top of ch2 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (12 sts & 12 ch sps)

Round 5: Change colour slst into any ch5 corner sp from round 4, ch3 then 2tr, ch3, 3tr into the same sp, *into the next two ch4 sp, 5tr, into the next ch5 corner sp (3tr, ch3, 3tr)* rep from * to * 2 more times, into the next two ch4 sp, 5tr, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (16 sts per side)

Round 6: Change colour slst into 1st dc of round 5, then ch1, working into each stitch around *dc3, (dc, ch2, dc) into the corner space, dc13* rep from * to * 3 more times, join with slst into the top of the 1st dc of the round.  (18 sts per side)

Round 7: Working into 1st stitch of the previous round ch3, then into each stitch around tr, sk the last stitch of the row, *(3tr, ch2, 3tr) into corner sp, sk the first stitch of the row, continue with a tr into each stitch, sk the last stitch of the row*, rep from * to * 2 more times, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) into corner sp, sk the first stitch of the row, continue with a tr into each stitch, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (22 sts per side)

Round 8: Repeat round 7.   (26 sts per side) 

Round 9+: Repeat round 7 to make a bigger square.

Round 4: Change colour slst into any beginning sc from a petal in round 3, ch6 (counts as 1hdr and ch4), *working into the first sc of the next petal (dc, ch5, dc) into the same st to create corner, ch4, into the first sc of the next petal hdc, ch4* rep from * to * 2 more times, into the first sc of the next petal (dc, ch5, dc) into the same st to create corner, ch4, join with slst into the top of ch2 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (12 sts & 12 ch sps)

Round 5: Change colour slst into any ch5 corner sp from round 4, ch3 then 2dc, ch3, 3dc into the same sp, *into the next two ch4 sp, 5dc, into the next ch5 corner sp (3dc, ch3, 3dc)* rep from * to * 2 more times, into the next two ch4 sp, 5dc, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (16 sts per side)

Round 6: Change colour slst into 1st sc of round 5, then ch1, working into each stitch around *sc3, (sc, ch2, sc) into the corner space, sc13* rep from * to * 3 more times, join with slst into the top of the 1st sc of the round.  (18 sts per side)

Round 7: Working into 1st stitch of the previous round ch3, then into each stitch around dc, sk the last stitch of the row, *(3dc, ch2, 3dc) into corner sp, sk the first stitch of the row, continue with a dc into each stitch, sk the last stitch of the row*, rep from * to * 2 more times, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) into corner sp, sk the first stitch of the row, continue with a dc into each stitch, join with slst into the top of the ch3 from the beginning of the round.  FO.  (22 sts per side)

Round 8: Repeat round 7.   (26 sts per side) 

Round 9+: Repeat round 7 to make a bigger square.
