Project 4 - Patchwork Motif

Project 4 - Patchwork Motif 

In project 4 you will get the opportunity to practice reading patterns, holding the hook and yarn, creating a slipknot, doing a yarn over, chain stitch and half treble crochet, work in rows,  finish/fasten off and weave ends & sew together.

Central Square

Instructions: Using your chosen yarn make ch10 (includes ch2 turning chain)

Row 1: Work htr in 3rd ch from the hook, htr in each ch to the end of row. Turn.  (9 sts)

Row 2: Ch2, htr into each st to the end of the row. Turn.  (9 sts)

Row 3-6: Rep row 2 for 4 rows.  FO.

Rectangle 1

Instructions: Follow instructions for central square rows 1 and 2

Row 3-12: Rep row 2 for 10 rows.  FO.

Make 2

Rectangle 2

Instructions: Using your chosen yarn make ch19 (includes ch2 turning chain)

Row 1: Work htr in 3rd ch from the hook, htr in each ch to the end of row. Turn.  (18 sts)

Row 2: Ch2, htr into each st to the end of the row. Turn.  (18 sts)

Row 3-6: Rep row 2 for 4 rows.  FO.

Make 2

Assembly

Arrange the square and rectangles as desired and sew together.  FO.

Round 4: Change colour slst into the beginning stitch from round3, ch3, tr into the same st, ch1, 2tr into next st to create first corner, htr2, dc3, htr2, *2tr into next st, ch1, 2tr into next st to create a corner, htr2, dc3, htr2* rep from * to * 3 times, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  (11 sts per side)

Round 5: Working into the beginning stitch from the previous round, ch3, continue with a tr into each stitch to corner chain space *(2tr, ch1, 2tr into corner sp) continue with a tr into each stitch to next corner space* rep from * to * 3 times, (2tr, ch1, 2tr into corner sp), continue to tr into each stitch to end, join with slst into the top of ch3 from the beginning of the round.  (14 sts per side)

Round 6-8: Repeat round 5.    Round 6 = 17 sts per side

                                                  Round 7 = 20 sts per side

                                                  Round 8 = 23 sts per side

Round 9+: Repeat round 5 to make a bigger square.
